"I've always been drawn to photography and art and the emotional response that images evoke"

Jenny Jope is not only a self taught photographer but a communicator and a dreamer through her craft. Most artists get their inspiration and influence from other artists, but Jope finds if traditional communication fails or a loss of words, her photography will tell a story. "I turn to photography to communicate the poems I cannot write" she says.

Jope, who started shooting as a child back in the second grade seems to pass on her art forms naturally. She explained a time when her daughter Charlie and she walked along a path in Marion, MA. They came upon a large ancient tree and began climbing. In the main portion of the tree was a perfect seat where her daughter crawled into it and was cradled by this beautiful tree. She captured a perfect mother and daughter moment and it was all natural. "My favorite shots are the spontaneous images without arrangement that are true visual poetry" she explains.

Jenny JopeThat is also evident in her works of common people in her section of Black and White, where the people convey unprompted messages. In her gallery of Landscape, the pictures do speak for themselves and are just natural beauty once again. Jope's photo gallery has traditional work as well, that revolve around children, also in spur-of-the-moment, portraiture and an extra gallery addition of "Adventures in Jenny Land". Jope says, "photography, is a function of paying attention, being alive and aware in the moment". This past summer, Jope's work was featured at the 8 Visions Exhibitions at the Attleboro Massachusetts Arts Museum. The attendees at the exhibit gave rave reviews that some described as flawless and a uncanny insight.

Jenny Jope attended Simmons College and Boston College and has received numerous awards for photography and writing. Her work is also featured at many exhibits around the New England area.  She is currently an active member of the Southern New England Artist' Community.
